Shortly thereafter Rodan emerges from under the ground near Mount Aso. He is heading towards Kyushu, followed by the FADJ. They chase it flying over the city, finally forcing it closer to the river. The reptile’s speed drops. Suddenly, the troops receive the information, that there is another Rodan, which is now destroying the city, ruining the buildings and setting them on fire. After devastating the city the two monsters fly away.

The FADJ formulate a plan of attack against the monsters. After locating their nest they decide to bomb the entrance to the cave/mine burying the Rodan alive. A citizen is against the plan fearing that they may provoke the eruption of the Aso volcano, and thus Kitamatsu village could be destroyed by lava. The commander agrees with him, however he insists on carrying out his plan, wanting to prevent the Rodan’s escape. Some citizens, including Kiyo and Shigeru still refuse to evacuate from the village.

But they finally leave the area to safety. The army attack begins. Soon, the volcano erupts, spewing lava and rocks into the sky. The Rodan emerge, but one of them falls into the lava, starting to burn. The villagers watch as the other Rodan joins his dying partner. After the beasts die the village is safe again.

Storm who would be reprising his role as Godzilla.[26]
